Overview
Environmental concerns are now a major consideration in all aspects of crop production and supply chains – as are postharvest losses, which can account for up to half of production worldwide.
The postharvest industry is increasingly important and expanding, with companies that provide packaging, grading, storage and transport of fresh produce actively seeking graduates who have an awareness and understanding of the issues involved.
As a student at ARU Writtle you’ll have access to the Postharvest Unit, which undertakes research and trials with commercial companies. We’ll also arrange visits to growers and post-harvest facilities.
This gives you the opportunity to study a range of crops, and investigate the techniques used for postharvest handling and the underlying mechanisms which determine and limit those techniques.
On campus, you’ll hear from visiting speakers and build your awareness of the latest trends and research in industry.
The Postharvest Technology degree at Anglia Ruskin University is ideal if you want to develop your knowledge and take the next step in your career.
Careers
On successful completion of this MSc Postharvest Technology, you'll possess the knowledge and skills to gain employment with major wholesale, retail and import/export organisations where produce quality is paramount, and where supply objectives are on a global scale.
There may also be opportunities to undertake trial work and research for commercial partners in the Postharvest Technology Unit at ARU Writtle.
