Overview
Specialisations
The Environmental Engineering program at ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology offers five majors to choose. Each specialisation includes compulsory modules and modules that can be selected.
Compulsory Specialisation Modules: They introduce students to core specialist knowledge in the selected major and form the basis of the Master's degree programme.
Selectable Specialisation Modules: They deliver specific specialist environmental engineering knowledge in the selected major and provide in-depth knowledge in selected subject areas.
The specialisations:
- Urban Water Management: This major is focused on managing water and wastewater in cities
- Environmental Technologies: This major is focused on process engineering and environmental technologies related to water, air, soil and waste
- Resource Management: The focus of this major is on the sustainable management of resources.
- Water Resources Management: The focus of this major is on understanding and modelling the physical processes of the hydrological cycle at the river basin and global scale.
- River and Hydraulic Engineering: This major builds on a fundamental understanding of hydraulics and hydrological principles with an emphasis on river engineering and hydraulic structures.

- The basis for admission is always your undegraduate degree, even if you already hold an advanced degree.
- Admission to Master's degree programmes is highly selective. We are looking for applications from excellent Bachelor graduates from universities comparable to ETH Zurich that meet the degree-specific requirement profiles.
