Our master’s degree programme in Physiotherapy at Bern University of Applied Sciences opens doors to new areas of physiotherapy, broadening your perspectives in the field, and enables you to develop and implement new, evidence-based concepts in physiotherapy or to carry out research.

In our MSc programme in physiotherapy, you will increase your knowledge of evidence-based physiotherapy and learn how to apply various research methods. Your clinical expertise will grow in the three focus areas of musculoskeletal studies, neurology and sport. In the professional development focus area, you will qualify for work in research and education. You will also be prepared to assume a wider range of new responsibilities in a clinical setting that reflect the challenges in healthcare today.

Through internships with institutional partners or on research teams, you will begin growing your network before you complete your studies. You will learn new perspectives and approaches from renowned instructors from Switzerland and abroad.

Learning outcomes

As an expert in physiotherapy, you will assess complex clinical problems within a broad theoretical context. You will either treat these issues or follow up as the circumstances dictate.

You will make new, clinically relevant information accessible in practice; for instance, you might develop and implement evidence-based clinical treatment concepts. You may teach in a bachelor’s degree or continuing education programme, or you may choose the research route and work in planning, securing acquisitions, implementing or publishing research projects.

Prospective students who have acquired a recognised bachelor degree (minimum duration of study: 3 years full-time) at a recognised foreign university according to 5.1 are eligible for admission to a successive nonmedical master programme in the relevant field of study.

The course regulations of the relevant master degree programmes define the maximum age of a diploma. Additional entry requirements may be specified in the study plans of individual master degree courses, and the completion of a master degree course can be made dependent on the evidence of further skills and abilities.

Specialised master degree programmes may be subject to additional admission requirements.
