About this Degree

Aimed at experienced working professionals, the program at the University of Toronto is delivered on Wednesday evenings and alternating Saturdays over 20 months. This enables students to advance their career without leaving work, and be able to apply the knowledge learned in the classroom immediately in the workplace.

Finance students come from a variety of backgrounds such as financial risk, portfolio management, corporate finance, equity research, accounting, sales and trading, insurance, pensions, and legal settings.

A recognized four-year undergraduate degreeA minimum GPA of 3.0 or a mid-B average in the final year of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized universityWork experience

Minimum of two years of work experience in finance or a finance-related field strongly recommended.

This program is structured for working professionals. We expect all students have employment in the Greater Toronto area prior to starting their studies.

GMAT / GRE scoreA GMAT or GRE score is required. Exemptions are available if you meet one of the following criteria:

Passed CFA Level II or above
Passed UFE or CFE through the CPA designation, or are a Canadian CPA
Graduated from the University of Toronto with high distinction
Obtained a professional designation in Engineering (P.Eng) or Actuarial Science (ACIA or FCIA)

Work experience

At least two years of full-time work experience in finance or a finance-related field is strongly recommended.
