European University Institute (EUI)

Since its founding in 1972 by the six original members of the then European Communities, the European University Institute (EUI) has earned a reputation as a leading international academic institution with a European focus. 

The four departments – Economics, History and Civilisation, Law, and Political and Social Sciences – host scholars from more than 100 countries, studying for the Institution’s doctorate, the one-year Master in Law or the Master of Research in Economics.

• The European University Institute (EUI) is situated on the hills of Fiesole, overlooking Florence, Italy. It is a challenging and rewarding workplace for more than 1000 people, hailing from more than 100 countries across the globe. The Institute hosts around 550 PhD researchers, more than 125 postdoctoral and senior fellows, around 150 full- and part-time professors, research staff of around 135 and administrative staff of almost 220 members.
