History
Following an invitation from the Ministry of education to establish an overseas campus, a partnership between Boustead Holdings Berhad, YTL Corporation Berhad and the University of Nottingham was formally announced in 1998.
The University of Nottingham welcomed its first students in September 2000. In 2015, UNMC celebrates its 15th year anniversary.
Education
The University of Nottingham Malaysia was established 21 years ago and is steadfast in its commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience. It offers world-class teaching, led by academics who are some of the best researchers in their respective fields and a friendly and inclusive campus environment.
The university takes pride in providing an environment for students that is conducive to learning, teaching and carrying out research. This is supported by its strong library provision (physical and virtual), dedicated study areas and laboratories (computing, languages, sciences and engineering), as well as virtual labs for online lessons.

Here at University of Nottingham Malaysia, we deliver research that transforms lives and shape the future.We currently support more than 300 postgraduates, 280 research-active staff and 10 research themes with an active portfolio of funding from the government agencies, non-governmental organisations and commercial companies.

From classroom to innovator's arena: Unleashing brilliance and charting new frontiers
I had an incredible experience during my time at the university. It was a transformative journey where I had the opportunity to explore a wide range of new and exciting opportunities. Beyond the structured curriculum, I delved into various aspects of university life that enriched my knowledge and perspective. One aspect that truly stood out was my involvement in competitions, such as the Loréal Brandstorm. This particular event allowed me to showcase my creativity and innovation as my team and I developed a device for the beauty industry. The experience was eye-opening, as it revealed the gaps in my understanding of the world and motivated me to strive harder. It made me realize the importance of self-driven learning and seeking knowledge beyond the confines of formal education. These experiences not only enhanced my practical skills but also exposed me to the broader societal landscape. I learned the value of teamwork, problem-solving, and adapting to competitive environments. They ignited a passion within me to continuously expand my horizons and embrace a lifelong journey of self-improvement. Overall, my time at the university was incredibly fulfilling. I am grateful for the opportunities I had to explore, learn, and challenge myself. It has shaped me into a more well-rounded individual, equipped with the determination to pursue knowledge and make a positive impact in the world.
Peaceful campus
Good environment especially since it is away from the city but being in the outskirts, it lacks variety in terms of entertainment, food options, and sights. There is only one mall in the area but as it is newly opened, again, it lacks enough stalls and vendors to be fun to explore or hangout in. The area of Semenyih has a decent number of food, however, if without a vehicle or mode of transport, students may find it difficult to explore food options. The people in the area are generally helpful especially store clerks and assistants but there are the odd bunch who lack etiquette or respect (public). Those in the university are mostly friendly individuals all living their own lives but will happily help out when needed such as asking for directions. Administrative staff do their job most of the time but some staff lack energy or seem uninterested in assisting students despite it not being the student's fault. Lecturers are an issue as a lot of them read off slides and may be unresponsive. There is a presence of kind and helpful lecturers however, the prevalence of costant complaints about lecturers may give potential students a bad outlook on the university.

Student services
The University of Nottingham Malaysia offers a range of services and facilities for our students. Aside from state-of-the-art library, the university also excellent non-academic facilities such as a cafe and extensive sports centre to make life on campus more enjoyable.
The Student Association is at the heart of student social life with different clubs and societies to suit every preference.
Housing services
The University offers a variety of On-Campus Accommodation where learning facilities and amenities are all just a short walk away. Newer accommodation consisting of six halls of residence are located in Student Village North (J Halls), while Student Village South (I Halls) consist of five halls of residence completed when the purpose-built campus was first constructed.
Each residential hall has its own Hall Warderns (staff) and Hall Tutors (postgraduate students) who will be available to care for your safety and welfare. Entrance into your halls are via door access control using your student ID card.
Library services
Library Services is responsible for managing information resources for learning, teaching and research and providing support on their use.
The core collection covers materials that meet the taught courses offered by the university with generous allocations in developing resources required for research purposes.
ICT services
SNS is a high speed internet link for students living in the halls of residences of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
All campus halls have access points that broadcast WLAN connection to the residents.
Medical services
The On-Campus Medical Clinic is operated by Kumpulan Medic, an independent health provider, whereby a fee will be charged for consultations.
If required, the centre is also able to dispense medicines and arrange for laboratory tests.
Campus life

Sports facilities
The emphasis on sporting excellence can be seen throughout the University.
The use of the sports facilities is free of charge and available to all staff and students.
The Sports Centre offers numerous sports amenities:
- two squash courts
- badminton hall with two courts
- sports hall with 6 badminton courts, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, netball court & futsal court
- gymnasium with treadmills, rowing machine, bikes etc.
- two outdoor tennis courts
- outdoor multipurpose court with basketball, volleyball & futsal
- outdoor multipurpose Bermuda field with two football field, rugby & cricket pitch
- Martial Arts Room
- outdoor astro turf with five-a-side futsal and hockey pitch
