UFRGS
My university is one of the bests universitys in the south america, i have a lot of wonderfull teachers that teach me and encourage me. I learn everyday more and more about the art of planning, designing and making things real. One of my dreams is to live in another country and i'm pretty sure that my course and the uni are going to help a lot in this.
Studying at UFRGS
I've only had great experiences from my time at UFRGS. The Campi are spaceous, and most of them offer nice places to relax between classes. The UR (University Restaurant) is very accessible, being only R$1.30. Unfortunately, the Government has cut many funds from Public Universities in Brazil, leading to the degradation of their spaces and other services provided (not only at UFRGS, but all Federal Institutions). Overall, I'm greatful for everything the University of Rio Grande do Sul has provided for my professional formation.
Review
The university provides good teachers and the basic structure that you'll probably need fot a good study experience.

Housing services
UFRGS does not have student houses for international students, but Relinter offers support for these students, helping them to find adequate housing.
Library services
- The library system at UFRGS (SBU), coordinated by the Central library and composed of 32 libraries, is responsible for offering services of specialized information.
- The reserves are constituted of books, scientific journals, magazines, CD-ROMs, DVD’s, films, photos, maps, a sheet music collection, discs, rare artworks, among other types of documents.
Campus life
UFRGS has four campi (Centro, Vale, Olímpico and Saúde). Each one of them is divided in blocks and subareas. It is important for you to know that Porto Alegre is a relatively big city and that these campi are located in different points in the city. Transportation from one to the other requires using bus, car or motorbike and it can be time consuming. Therefore, while choosing which disciplines you will enroll in, you should think about this distance between UFRGS campi. We suggest you schedule classes at the same campus, checking their timetable.
Sports facilities
The Campus Olímpico offers several classes in different sports for all international students free of cost. Several activities are offered with professors’ supervision (bodybuilding, water sports, synchronized swimming, dance, olympic gymnastics, collective sports and wrestling). A timetable with activities and sports is available for request.
