History
- It began as a regional education hub founded with the support of residents, and quickly gained a strong reputation as the best university south of Seoul.
- Kyungpook National University was established in 1946. In 1969, the Graduate School of Education was established.

Student services
- Since its establishment in 2001, the Office of International Affairs has been providing diverse and unique international programs for students and faculty.
- Having secured academic partnerships with nearly 550 institutions in 66 countries worldwide, the OIA strives for the internationalization of students and academic staff at KNU, aiming to foster future global leaders equipped with global competitiveness. The OIA door is always open to students who seek to participate in the programs offered.
Housing services
- KNU Daegu Campus Dormitories have 2,065 rooms which accommodate 4,598 undergraduate and graduate students. Each building has a recreation hall, gym, shower room, computer lab, and library.
- The cultural center has a cafeteria which can accommodate 700 people, and an event space with lights, video, and audio equipment. KNU Dormitory at Sangju Campus is equipped with a gym, a computer lab(each room has internet access), a recreation hall(cable TV, air conditioner), and a meeting room. There are laundry facilities on every floor.
Library services
- Since its opening in 1953, the KNU Library has been supporting the research and academic activities of users with 5,081 study seats and over 3.1 million volumes of books in a space comprising 35,961㎡.
- The KNU Library has a main library and four branches located in the Medical School, Dental School, Law School, and Sangju Campus respectively.
Medical services
The KNU Health Care Center is dedicated to maintaining the health of students and staff, as well as to the prevention of disease. The Center includes a hospital and dental clinic, and provides various services for students including health counseling.
Campus life
KNU Daegu Campus Dormitories have 8 dormitory buildings, a cafeteria, and 2 BTL dormitory buildings. The KNU Dormitory at Sangju Campus has 1 cafeteria and 6 dormitory buildings with a total of 534 rooms housing 1,314 (male 896/female418)undergraduate, graduate, and international students.
Sports facilities
The KNU Sports Promotion Center was build in 1972 to encourage university students and staff to adopt a healthy lifestyle by incorporating regular exercise into their daily routine under the KNU sports promotion committee regulation.
