History
Named after the Great King Naresuan, Naresuan University was developed from a College of Education in 1967 and later established as the Phitsanulok Campus of Srinakharinwirot University in 1974. The university was officially granted university status on July 29, 1990, and the name “Naresuan University” was graciously given by His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej.

Naresuan University, a government university accredited by the Office of the Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Education, is a comprehensive university comprising 16 faculties, 3 schools, 1 college, and 1 institute. They are clustered into the Health Sciences Cluster, the Science and Technology Cluster, and the Social Sciences Cluster. A wide range of degree programs, offered at all levels of studies, are delivered to meet increasing demands of prospective students who not only need to be well-equipped with academic knowledge but also current issues and global trends in order to cope well with the challenges of the ASEAN Economic Community and be outstandingly qualified graduates.

Student services
Student Services Information Desk (SSiD) is located in the 1st floor at the Sixth-Cycle (72nd) Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Building or QS Building. Not only there are having an information services, but also there are the counseling services dealing with the living and learning problem, personal problem and general problem.
Campus life
The atmosphere on campus is an important part in helping students adjust to life and the pursuit of knowledge to their full potential. It also can support students in learning. The university has 2 international dormitories with airconditioned rooms, internet access, and laundry services with a system for secure acceess to the dorm (keycard) system, CCTV and 24 hour security guards. Naresuan University has a large state-of-the art medical center. In addition, there are facilities for swimmimg, tennis, basketball, and a fitness center. Along with the excellent library services providing a vast on-line data base, Naresuan University is prepared to cater to student ‘s intellectual and physical needs.

The 4th ASEAN Summit in 1992 called for ASEAN Member Countries to help "hasten the solidarity and development of a regional identity through the promotion of human resource development so as to further strengthen the existing network of leading universities and institutions of higher learning in the region."
