History
Chang’an University was merged by the former Xi’an Highway University, Xi’an Engineering Institute, Northwest Institute of Construction Engineering on April 18th, 2000. Thus, the course of development of Chang’an University reflects the history and development of its three predecessors.
Education
Chang’an University has 22 schools or departments, 5 national-level key disciplines, 26 provincial-level key disciplines, 8 post-doctoral research stations, 8 first-level and 50 second-level doctoral programs, 26 first-level and 118 second-level master programs, 78 undergraduate specialties as well as 9 fields of degree conferment of Mater of Public Management and Master of Industrial and Commercial Management, and 16 enrollment fields of masters in engineering.
Research
Our university is equipped with outstanding research conditions, possessing 2 national engineering laboratories, 20 provincial and ministerial key labs and engineering research centers and 2 key research bases for humanities and social sciences of Shaanxi Province.

NCUE: A Good University
I had an incredibly joyful and fulfilling time during my master's program. The campus is beautiful, the school offers a lot of resources, and there are plenty of delicious food options around the area. Most importantly, I met an amazing advisor. He always genuinely cares about all his students and encourages us to think independently when discussing experiments with us. I believe a large part of my perfect master's experience is thanks to my advisor. Without him, everything would have been completely different. His name is Jui-yu Chou, and I hope you get the chance to be one of his students.

The University devotes to promoting such activities as “introducing classic art into campus”, “introducing excellent films into campus” by successively inviting The National Ballet of China, China National Symphony Orchestra Choir, China National Peking Opera Company and Suzhou Kunqu Opera of Jiangsu Province to play in our university, and by inviting such socialites and distinguished scholars as Wu Jianmin, Yu Qiuyu, Ouyang Ziyuan and Zhao Peng to give a lecture in our university.

Chang’an University aims to develop various scientific, recreational and sports activities with diverse forms, colorful content and elegant styles by setting enriching campus life and cultivating university spirit as our goal, by holding expanding knowledge, improving ability, perfecting quality and nurturing mortality as our purpose, by keeping colonel-level activities as the model and departmental-level activities as the focal point, and by treating a series of festivals such as art festival, sport festival, science festival and culture festival as the focus.
