How My BA Shaped My Artistic Practice
I completed my BA in Sculpture at Kookmin University in Seoul, where I developed a strong interest in large-scale installation and material experimentation, including ceramics, 3D modelling, and metalwork. While expressing myself as an artist was challenging at first, I overcame this fear and gained confidence in presenting myself and my work. My undergraduate experience allowed me to confront and move beyond my hesitation to speak as an artist. Kookmin University provided a strong foundation where I could explore a wide range of materials and approaches. Through this process, I was able to build both technical skills and a clearer artistic voice. I now feel ready to take the next step in my development by studying in the UK. I see my undergraduate studies as a crucial stage that has prepared me to expand my practice further within a new academic and cultural environment.
Supportive Korean Graduate Faculty
I had a very good experience with my professors from graduate school. They have a lot of experience and the classes were really interesting and interactive. All my professor allowed me to do my presentations in English since I was not fluent in Korean yet, they also were really kind and explained well all the topics.
