When Bryn Mawr College opened its doors in 1885, it offered women a more ambitious academic program than any previously available to them in the United States.
Education
A Bryn Mawr education is designed to encourage intellectual exploration, independent initiative, advanced research, and the mastery of skills essential to meaningful scholarship: critical reasoning, reasoned argument, clear expression, and the ability to solve problems creatively and work across disciplines.
Research
Bryn Mawr College offers undergraduate students many opportunities to undertake academic research. Students refine their research skills once they have declared a Major course of study, with many departments offering research methodology courses along with senior thesis opportunities.
The Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Assessment gathers, evaluates, and analyzes campus data and provides information about the College both to the general public and to College policymakers. A major role of the office is to provide data analysis in support of the assessment of student learning and of institutional effectiveness. This information informs future policy decisions and program improvements on campus.

Rigorous Bryn Mawr
Bryn Mawr offers great academics in a supportive environment. Location is great on a tree-lined street just outside Philadelphia. Easy access to Philly on the train. College offers shared classes with Haverford, Swarthmore, and the University of Pennsylvania. College offers a variety of majors from sciences to literature, with some favorites being chemistry, art history, and world languages. All students take a freshman seminar and a language. In my experience, students quickly discover which professors to take and which to avoid. College has a good grad school admissions rate, including med school and law school. The college offers several sports teams including field hockey, cross-country, swimming, tennis, field hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, and basketball, among others. Students can also play club sports at Bryn Mawr and Haverford. The college has a strong student government. At Bryn Mawr, pretty much everyone works hard and takes academics seriously, e.g., library is usually filled on the weekends (as is the campus coffee shop). Like other liberal arts colleges, many buildings need repair or updating, Including the dorms and other facilities. Recently, the college has expanded their financial aid programs, so if that applies to you, go for it. But be ready to study.
Mix-match
I loved my time at Bryn Mawr because the school prepares its student to relate well with other students and establish long-lasting interpersonal relationships. The campus is a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere for intentional education. I loved that the Self Governance Association allows the students to participate in the school's running and practice taking accountability for their actions, striving to be better, and being there for one another. I loved my professors who believed in me and helped me realize some of my potential. As an international student, one thing that did not work well for me was feeling belonged. Most of the time I struggled with imposter syndrome and there was not much support to deal with the loneliness and isolation, especially in my first two years in college. The feeling of loneliness and isolation and helplessness were accentuated by the Covid-19 global pandemic. Amidst those times, I wish the college tried harder for its international students. I believe my happiest moments in school were my junior and senior years. Those were the times I made most of my friends and enjoyed the community in my own ways!

- We endeavor to help every international student feel that Bryn Mawr College is truly a “home away from home." We facilitate the transition and integration of international students into the Bryn Mawr community by providing resources on matters of particular interest to international students. We advise international students on U.S immigration issues so that each student takes personal responsibility for remaining in compliance with regulatory requirements governing their stay in the U.S.

Medical services
The BMC Health and Wellness Center grieves the relentless series of violence toward Black individuals and communities. This race based violence adds to the already overwhelming chaos and stress of the current pandemic. Campus life
Bryn Mawr's campus, long recognized as one of the most beautiful in the country, is set in a century-old, varied suburb that is 11 miles west of Philadelphia, the nation's sixth-largest city. The majestic stone buildings that anchor the campus were the first examples of a style of architecture that came to be known as Collegiate Gothic, and they served as templates for dozens of other campuses. Bryn Mawr College is committed to supporting a variety of student clubs and organizations which are consistent with the educational philosophy and mission of the College.Social fraternities or sororities are not permitted at the College. The College has determined that students are better served by the numerous non-exclusive student clubs and organizations which exist on campus. Bryn Mawr College does not recognize the charter of any social fraternity or sorority. No College facilities (including all public and private spaces, bulletin boards, and campus mail) can be used for any social fraternity or sorority activities.
