History
Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) was first established as a medical center in August 1973. Initial planning of the University in 1974 lasted less than 2 years and began with the establishment of a library, by gathering several thousand scientific journals and books in different branches of medical sciences.
Education
An undergraduate or a first-level university student is a student working toward an Associate, B.Sc., M.D., D.D.S., or Pharm.D. degree. We consider you an undergraduate applicant if you have graduated from high school and are applying to one of the above-mentioned degrees.
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.), and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) applicants should note that the language of instruction and patient interaction will be Persian/Farsi, although IUMS professors speak English, power points and books are in English, and exams might be given in English.
Research
The University provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, well-equipped laboratories, libraries, and world-class teaching hospitals. IUMS offers a wide range of programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, some of which are joint programs designed to be taught in collaboration with other institutions. The ultimate goal is to provide students with a high quality education, giving them the necessary skills and connections to take on employment positions they desire following their graduation.

IUMS is one of the leading institutions in the country and the region, offering basic science programs and health care professional degrees in Medicine, Pharmacy and very soon, in Dentistry, through its International Campus. Our faculty undertake research and educational activities with the ultimate goal of creating knowledge and training competent professionals prepared for careers of the future.

Experience form an Audiology student in Iran who is interested in data science
Being as a Master of science student of Audiology in Iran University Of Medical Sciences(IUMS) has been a very good experience for me. In the two recent years in IUMS H have been able to expand my knowledge in the field of hearing science as well as getting familiar with the process of performing a scientific research(since we have to do research for our thesis). The one thing that I regret studying here was learning more about computer and data science which I a really interested in and I think it can affect the medical field very much.

Student services
A broad range of cultural, educational, athletic, artistic and social activities are available for IUMS students, faculties and employees. Campus life activities are built around the concepts of encouraging each community member to express his or her talents and to respect all members of community.
Housing services
University housing is only available for female student at this time.The apartment has 5 floors and occupies 160 square meters per floor. Each floor has four rooms and a maximum of seven students can be housed per floor. The apartments are furnished with the following amenities: 24/7 security guard, caretaker, elevator, refrigerator-freezer, washing machine, TV, high speed internet, air conditioner, gas heating and radiator package. You may also have access to certain equipment such as a steam iron and tea / coffee maker.
Library services
The library rating system is in accordance with the NLM and the Library of Congress LC. The main subject areas are library collection, health education and health promotion, environmental health engineering, occupational health engineering, ergonomics, biostatistics, nutrition and epidemiology.

Campus life
Iran University of Medical Sciences is spread across several campuses in Tehran.The main campus is where the leadership and administrative offices are located. The cafeteria, sports complex, and health center for faculty, staff and students are also at the main campus.
Accreditation
IUMS is accredited by the Accreditation Services for International Colleges (ASIC) as a Premier University from 2014-2019. This is the first step of being an accredited international university.
