History

In August 1999, the then Minister of Education invited Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations Sdn Bhd (METEOR), a consortium of 11 public universities in the country, to set up an open university.

This led to the establishment of OUM in August 2000, followed by its launch on 26 August 2002 by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

To widen access to quality education and provide lifelong learning opportunities by leveraging on technology, adopting a flexible mode of learning, and providing a conducive and engaging learning environment at competitive and affordable cost.

About my bachelor program

I was already taken my general diploma in nursing by college of nursing Badulla Sri Lanka. So I want to expand my knowledge and experience. Then I select bachelor degree of nursing. In open university of Malaysia. Coordinating by international institute of healthcare science in Walisara, Sri Lanka. I study nursing care, critical nursing and pediatric as well as renal nursing in this degree programme.

Studying Business Administration was a rewarding and insightful experience, providing a strong foundation in business concepts and management strategies. The balance between theory and practice was beneficial, but more real-world exposure and specialization opportunities could further enhance the learning experience. The skills gained—critical thinking, leadership, and adaptability—are valuable in many career paths, making it a great program for aspiring business professionals.

A Meaningful Academic Journey at LUC

My experience at Lincoln University College was meaningful and academically enriching. The lecturers were supportive, knowledgeable, and always willing to guide students when needed. I appreciated the multicultural environment, which allowed me to interact with people from different backgrounds and broaden my perspective. The courses were well-structured and included practical components such as practicum, which helped me gain real-world experience. Although administrative processes sometimes required patience, overall the university provided me with valuable knowledge, confidence, and skills that prepared me for my future career.
