History
The University of Western Macedonia, with campuses in the cities of Kastoria, Florina, Grevena and Ptolemaida, was founded in 2003 in Kozani.

The University of Western Macedonia runs 7 Schools, 21 Undergraduate and 36 Postgraduate Study Programmes, which are organised either by individual academic units (Departments) or are interdepartmental and interdisciplinary (in collaboration with other national and international universities).

Univesity of western macedonia and Kozani
University of Western Macedonia is an old building that lakcs a lot of equipment that newer ones or the ones with better state funds have but mostly the proffesors are willing to educate you.

Housing services
- Free accommodation is offered in the Halls of Residence in Kozani, Grevena and Florina.
- The University of Western Macedonia offers free meals to students in all cities. There are 2 student restaurants in Kozani (on Kila campus and at 20 Constantinople Street), 2 in Florina (in the buildings of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Agriculture), in Ptolemaida, and on campus in Kastoria and Grevena.
Library services
The Library, located on the University Campus (Fourka area) ensures that the relevant support material for the University educational or other processes are properly selected, collected, disseminated, and effectively controlled and managed.
Student clubs
The Academic, Social, Cultural and Environmental Society of the University of Western Macedonia, named “Epicurus”, aims at (see Annex):
- endorsing the cultural, intellectual, social and environmental development of Western Macedonia
- promoting the social, economic, cultural and intellectual status both of its members and local population
- fostering social solidarity, cooperation, unity and strengthening relations between its members and local population
- ensuring and taking initiatives to improve hygiene, the natural environment and ecosystems, as well as raising members and local population’s awareness of environmental issues, such as environmental protection and conservation.
