History
Established in 1988 under Sabah’s Education Ordinance, 1961 (Ordinance No. 9 of 1961), and re-registered as Institut Prima Bestari when the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 was enacted.

- The institution has demonstrated an outstanding and proven track record, including achieving a 5-star rating from the Ministry of Higher Education for consecutive years. In recognition of its commitment and quality in higher education, the Ministry of Higher Education granted University College status to the institution in 2021.

Housing services
Jesselton University College offers 3 types of accommodation, with priority given to outstation and international students. They are the Celyn Residence, on-campus accommodation, the Switz Residence, off-campus accommodation which is located at the city centre and the Seri Borneo Residence, off-campus apartments.

Medical services
The University College provides an Outside Panel Doctors Scheme (the “Scheme”) to all full-time and part-time students. Under the arrangement of the College, the Scheme offers an additional primary care service complementary to that of the College Health Service (CHS).
Campus life
Jesselton University College campus is located at Metro Town, which is strategically situated at the heart of prime residential area along Jalan Lintas, Kota Kinabalu. This is a very convenient area where it takes only 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre and 10 minutes’ drive from the Kota Kinabalu Bus Terminal that links to other towns and cities in Sabah such as Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Kudat.
Sports facilities
At JUC, they understand that you may have diverse interests. That’s why they encourage students to explore and engage in various activities.You have the flexibility to sign up for a maximum of (3) three sport or society during any semester, allowing you to balance your academic pursuits with extracurricular involvement.
