Was a good time :)
My exchange semester in Finland was an incredible and transformative experience that I will cherish forever. Despite a rocky start—locking myself out of my room on the first day because the doors lock by default—I quickly adapted and learned to always carry my key. One of the most striking aspects of my time in Finland was the extreme weather. The coldest temperature I experienced was a bone-chilling -24 degrees Celsius. However, the winter wonderland provided unique opportunities for adventure. I joined other international students from France and Hungary on breathtaking walks through the snow and even across frozen lakes. One memorable outing involved cooking in the woods, an experience that combined the thrill of the outdoors with the warmth of camaraderie. Tampere, the city where I studied, was a delightful blend of old and new. The city center boasts charming old industrial buildings that tell the story of its rich history. A must-visit is the observation tower, which offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its picturesque surroundings. The academic experience in Tampere was refreshingly different from my home university. The courses were more hands-on and practical, making learning both engaging and fun. In my servers course, for example, we had to set up and configure servers ourselves, and our performance was graded based on the results. In the embedded systems course, we built a lego and other components car and navigated it through obstacle courses using various sensors. Everyone I met in Finland was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. Another major advantage was the ability to take my home university exams while in Finland, which was a huge relief given the overlap in schedules. Overall, my exchange semester in Finland was a perfect mix of academic growth, cultural immersion, and personal adventure. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to broaden their horizons and make lifelong memories.
