My Journey in IT Systems and Network Engineering.
My study experience at SLIIT was both challenging and rewarding. I really appreciated the strong practical exposure in areas like systems engineering, cloud computing, and network administration, which helped me build real-world skills. The supportive lecturers and collaborative projects enhanced my problem-solving and teamwork abilities. However, I believe the program could include even more industry-based workshops and live cloud infrastructure labs to further bridge the gap between academia and real-world environments. Overall, it was a transformative journey that shaped me into a confident and adaptable IT professional, ready to take on complex technical challenges.
Good programme with a strong final thesis
The 2-year Master’s programme in Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University gave me a solid foundation in data science, statistics, and decision analysis. The courses cover a good mix of theory and practical skills, especially in areas like data analysis, machine learning, and working with real datasets. Over time, I felt that the courses built on each other in a useful way. You start with more structured learning, and gradually move towards more independent work, which prepares you well for the final thesis. The thesis was definitely the highlight of the programme for me. I worked on a machine learning project with elements of reinforcement learning, and it really felt like everything from the previous courses came together. Skills like data handling, modeling, and evaluating results were directly applied in a real project. During the final thesis term, I had both an academic and an industry supervisor, which made a big difference. The academic supervisor supported me with research design, methodology, and the scientific aspects of the work, while the industry supervisor contributed practical insights and real-world context. This combination made the thesis feel much more meaningful and closer to how data science is actually applied in practice. The thesis course requires a lot of independence, but that’s also what makes it valuable. You are responsible for planning and executing your own project, which helps you grow a lot both technically and personally.
My honest review at Stockholm
The best thing about Stockholm university is that you can easily adapt and come in to your studies without pressure. The lecturers always tells us to not stress already from the start of a course and that the best way to learn is to follow lectures so that we study little for exam because we learn everything in lectures. They always give the students study tips almost in every lecture. the lecturers are clear about that exams are based on lectures so that student dosen´t learn other unnecessary things, they brought up the important information in lectures.
