Overview

Though the Electrical Engineering department at Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has been established only recently, the Electrical Engineering Section existed in the School for over last 35 years. As a part of Mining Machinery Engineering department, the Electrical Engineering Section was fully functional with teaching and R&D activities from 1975.

The B.Tech. Mining Machinery Engineering programme of the School comprised about 30% of the Electrical Engineering input and subjects like Electrical Technology, Circuits & Measurements, Electrical Machines & Control, Electrical Drives, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Mining Electro-Technology had been taught to the B.Tech. Mining Machinery Engineering students from 1975 onwards by this Section.

General requirements

The candidate should have a Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or a Masters’ degree in Science from Institutes recognized by the Government.

The minimum marks are 60% or CGPA of 6.0 (on a 10-point scale) in Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or a Masters’ degree in Science.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST and who have the basic qualifying degree is eligible to apply, provided s/he has secured first class or marks not less than 55% or CGPA not less than 5.5 in the relevant degree.

Candidate must be an Indian National.

Candidates should have a valid GATE score that remains valid at the time of admission.
