Overview
You will learn how to structure, examine, and analyse information to find solution strategies. These are very valuable qualifications for working life, whether you will be working on the climate, energy, finance, research, education, or technology.
You may specialize in algebra, analysis, topology, statistics, or applied mathematics.
The Master of Science (MSc) in Mathematical Sciences at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has a world-class environment in mathematical sciences that you may become part of.
What will you learn?
Since mathematics is the language of science, this is the path to understanding the world. You will learn to understand, use, and develop mathematics to see new solutions for a more functional and developing society.
A solid fundament in mathematical sciences will enable you to hypothesize, design experiments, analyze data, recognize patterns, prove connections, and solve problems.
What can you become?
Mathematics is a discipline with many areas of application. The questions we want to answer and the problems we want to solve in the future will be different, but they will be based on mathematical solutions.
You will be able to work within biotechnology, energy, insurance, banking and finance, research and teaching, the industry, IT and communication technology, geomatics, the pharmaceutical industry, medical research, environmental monitoring and modelling, and engineering companies.
An education in mathematical sciences will make you very attractive on the labour market.
After the completion of a master’s degree programme, you may apply for admission to a doctoral degree programme (PhD).
