Overview
The Marine Geosciences programme from University of Haifa is the largest academic center of marine sciences in Israel, and the only one to be included in the prestigious 2023 Shanghai Academic Ranking. It ranks among the top 200 globally in Oceanography, and in the top 30 for Sustainable Development goal 14 “Life below the water”, in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022.

General requirements
- BSc degree in in Geology, Geophysics, Marine Science, Engineering, or other related sciences with a minimum of 3.0 GPA, 80% (B) (Israeli system), or equivalent in all undergraduate courses.
- Department pre-requisites are a basic knowledge of science in the following areas: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Atmosphere, English, and Computers.
- Good command of the English language.
- Copy of undergraduate diploma and official transcript of BA degree showing full list of courses, date of graduation, and conferred degree.
- Two recommendations letters
- TOEFL – score 89 or alternative acceptable English language examination score
- Personal Statement (500 words)
- Research statement – goals and aims of the planned research (500-750 words)
- Curriculum Vitae/Resumé
- Medical forms (international students only)
- Copy of valid passport
