Understanding KMU: Polish branch
As a result of the war in Ukraine, Kyiv medical university which is located in the capital city of Ukraine, established a branch in the city of Bytom, Poland. In a bid to continue to foster quality education at a very affordable price, theyve continued to progressively provide good educational standards.
KPI during the war
Let’s start with the good - because there is good. KPI still gathers some of the brightest students in Ukraine. The sense of community, even online or during power outages, is real. You learn to adapt fast, fix things on your own, and keep pushing forward despite chaos around you. That teaches independence, discipline, and resourcefulness - skills that no polished Western university could simulate under normal circumstances. The professors who actually care - the younger ones, or the few veterans who embrace technology - make a huge difference. When they connect theory to reality, you can feel what real engineering and data science are meant to be about. But the problems are just as clear. The system is old - like, soviet old. Many professors still use slides from the 90s and treat modern machine learning or software engineering as something “experimental.” Instead of teaching you to solve problems, they often teach you to pass exams. Creativity is rarely encouraged; obedience often is. Bureaucracy consumes time that should go to research or coding. Labs sometimes feel symbolic, and online classes during blackouts or air raids can turn into an absurd mix of lag, candlelight, and “Can you hear me now?”. The hardest part isn’t just the workload - it’s the feeling that you’re running on outdated tracks in a world that’s already gone electric. Students often end up self-teaching the important stuff - Python, AI, statistics - through YouTube, papers, or open courses. KPI gives you the framework, but not the modern content. Overall, the experience is difficult, imperfect, but promising thanks to the best community. It forces you to become self-reliant and critical - to question what you’re taught, seek better ways, and grow beyond the limits of the system. It’s a place that tests patience and builds character more than it builds practical skills.
Strong Foundation for Future Healthcare Careers
Kyiv Medical University offers a solid educational foundation for aspiring healthcare professionals. The faculty is knowledgeable and supportive, providing valuable insights and guidance throughout the program. The curriculum is well-structured, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience, which is essential for our future careers. Opinion: Overall, my experience at Kyiv Medical University has been positive. I appreciate the emphasis on hands-on training and the opportunities to interact with patients early in our studies. The campus environment is vibrant and fosters a sense of community among students. However, I feel that there could be improvements in certain administrative processes, which can sometimes be slow and cumbersome. Recommendation: I would recommend Kyiv Medical University to those looking to pursue a medical career, as it equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge. The supportive atmosphere and strong academic foundation make it a worthwhile choice for anyone passionate about healthcare.
