Key Features
The Sustainability program at Brock University offers students three paths to study environmental sustainability. Students can tailor their program to specific career and research interests through enriching classroom learning with practical experience (Scheme A) or intensive research experience (Scheme B). More recently, a third path has been added to this program to offer students (including those with practical/professional experience) enriching classroom learning with in-depth research experience (Scheme C).
Program highlights:
- Students can complete a Master of Sustainability in 12-24 months.
- The transdisciplinary SSAS graduate program emphasizes overcoming barriers among traditional disciplines and sectors.
- Faculty members involved in the SSAS graduate program are leading scholars in many fields. Their expertise spans the natural and social sciences and share a commitment to integrative inquiry. Exciting opportunities exist to join cutting-edge programs of research.
- Students can engage in intensive and enriching research that they are passionate about. Faculty members mentor students in undertaking their research. Student research may take place here in Niagara or anywhere in the world.

- You will need to submit your transcripts as well as the following program specific materials:
- Two academic references are required.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Statement of Intent
- The statement of intent should convey the rationale for seeking entry to the program and describe how it advances the applicant's academic and professional aspirations. This is written as a formal essay (with cited references in text) of no more than two pages. Applicants should indicate their specific research interests related to the field of sustainability science, experience relevant to the program and career aspirations and plans. Applicants must indicate their intention to pursue Scheme A or Scheme B.
- Students should consult the listing of core faculty and indicate their top three choices on the application.
