Overview
The study programme in the field of law combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills in orientation in the legal order and its interpretation, in the creation, implementation and application of law. Law represents an interconnected, internally structured system of generally binding norms for the functioning of human society in accordance with the principles of democracy under the rule of law. Contemporary law is characterized by polycentrism, i.e. creation in several centres and at several levels. Specifically, it concerns the national level, the level of European Union law and the level of international law.
Career opportunities
The graduate carries out more demanding work independently in the field of public administration and in the private, primarily commercial sphere or works as a candidate for legal professions (judiciary, prosecutor's office, advocacy, notary, etc.), an employee in the judicial sphere.
The graduate obtains the prerequisites for working in national and multinational corporations or national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations that require the filling of job positions by graduates with knowledge of wider social and transnational context of law, in-depth and complex orientation in international law and the law of the European Union.

- Completion of a bachelor's or master's study programme in the field of law in the Slovak Republic, or completion of a master's study programme in the field of law in the programme of law and legal sciences in the Czech Republic, or completion of a bachelor's or master's study programme in the field of law in a country other than the Slovak Republic or the Czech Republic based on a decision on the equivalence of documents, and
- Basic knowledge in the field of European law and international law, and
- Language skills and proficiency in the English language
