History
Founded in November 1948, Saarland University was originally established as a bilingual university that combined French and German educational traditions while offering a unique European perspective.
Education

Career
Saarland University offers a comprehensive support package for students preparing to start their careers or aiming to set up their own businesses. Guided by the Contact Centre for Technology Transfer (KWT), students can develop their business ideas, formally register their business ventures and learn to take their first steps as independent entrepreneurs. The jUNIts training scheme for young entrepreneurs offers students the possibility to work on project assignments on behalf of local and regional companies.

Univeristy Review
Saarland University is a great research university and recent advancement courses.
Strong CS department
Great campus, located a bit outside of the city and in between forests. Lots of activities and international students. Depending on you subject you will either have great facilities or facilities that are a bit run down. The computer science department is known for its expertise and does a great job teaching and researching
My time on Campus at Saar University
I love my time on campus at Saar University. The Professors are interested in student matters. I've met great people in course, sport programs etc. The subjects of different Seminars were also interesting and diverse, so you could adapt to what you're interested in!

Campus life
The university has two campuses. Situated only a few kilometres from the centre of Saarbrücken in a pleasant woodland setting, the main campus is home to most of the university’s faculties and departments. Homburg is about 30 kilometres from the Saarbrücken campus. As one of Germany’s recognized family-friendly higher-education institutions, Saarland University runs two child day-care facilities on campus.
The cafés and lawns situated around the Saarbrücken campus are perfect for meeting up with friends or relaxing between classes. The surrounding woodland and the nearby wildlife park offer plenty of opportunities for a relaxing walk or an after-class run.
Sports facilities
Through the ‘Elite Sports Partnership’ initiative, the university also helps young top athletes balance the demands of academic study with the requirements of their intensive training regimens. All students have access to over 60 different types of sport via the University Sports Programme.
Student clubs
Cultural life at Saarland University is varied and vibrant. In addition to the orchestras and choirs in the university’s Collegium Musicum, there are numerous student theatre groups and for movie fans the Students’ Union Executive Committee (AStA) screens a film once a week.
