LLB graduate
A recent LLB graduate who is very excited learn more and develop my skills in the future. My most favourite area in the filed of law is Technology and AI law. My academic years were filled with a lot of real world experinces which gave me an easier way to understand and learn. Lectuers made it eaier to understand and apply those knowledge.
Flexible courses, helpful staff
It's a good uni if your looking to apply, they have lots of courses available and are very flexible if you don't like your course. Most of the lectures are nice and easy to talk to and are willing to help if you put the effort in as well.
Great resources for media students
I was a student here for 4 years in total and I am hoping this review can help some people to understand the type of university and environment they will be going into. Understand that things may get better or worse however with what I saw and experienced while I was here I want to use to help you inform your decision on whether to go here or somewhere else. When it comes to the academic facilities personally I don't think you can wrong with the equipment that I got to use. The video cameras are great and are of industry standard along with the TV studio where my only regret is that I didn't get to use it as much as I would have liked due to the lockdown that happened while I was studying there. The computer rooms are an amazing resource for students who need to study overnight as all the computers in Cadman are great for both game design and media students for editing, coding etc with all the software being their and ready to go while running well. However if you are a game design student please be aware that unreal is the main software used by the Uni and not all of the computers seem to have unity so you might need to ask around to check which have which. This also goes for steam however they all do have the full adobe suit ready to go. As for other facilities there are many choices on where to go to get food and drink personally I was a fan of ember during the quieter hours for food and drink with friends after classes and the shops there while a bit pricey do offer a two different meal deals and good amount of deals that get cycled throughout the year. However, if none of these have anything that you like their are plenty of other options such as corner shops, supermarkets and take aways close by. However, they're some areas where the Uni is severely lacking and the big one is the Catalyst building. This building is an example of where I think Staffs has its priorities wrong with the food being overpriced and all of the computers being underpowered with one of the software needed for any course that doesn't require anything above Microsoft Office as well as meet spaces with a connection system to the TVs that barely works and when I used it the stream from my phone was laggy and had several disconnects throughout. This is what will be the 24 hour study space when Cadmans closing time is introduced which is worrying for the future of students grades as not being able to work when deadlines are close. This also means their will be limited access to books from the library in Cadman. This issue has been apparent since the Ashley building became the media library and made it harder for me to get to the resource that I needed for my work. I hope that is will be improved in the future as I feel the building has potential from the events I have been apart of as well as what Stoke Con Trent was able to do with the space.
