Overview
Key Features
Philosophy broken down means "Love of Wisdom." Although there are many aspects to the various studies involved in academic philosophy, the binding tether is the aim to understand the assumptions involved in the processes of our existence. Whether that be psychological, political, linguistic, or epistemic in nature, philosophy is guided by rigorous logic that utilizes scientific studies in order to uncover discrepencies in the theories we use every day.
Although the Department's bent is generally analytic, the course offerings of the Philosophy program from University of Arkansas cover a broad range and include continental philosophy, every major period in the history of western philosophy, and most of the major subfields of contemporary philosophy. The areas of special concentration are the philosophy of mind, epistemology, and philosophy of religion.
