Overview

Basic Degree Information/Description

A broad common base of knowledge for biotechnology is provided in the Biotechnology program of The University of Texas at San Antonio by a comprehensive core curriculum that includes key areas in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology and immunology.

Additional coursework is selected from a list of laboratory courses (some required) and approved electives in a broad range of subjects. The opportunity to develop additional technical expertise may also be available through an internship in biotechnology-based companies.

General requirements

Bachelor's degree with 18 credit hours in field of study or in another appropriate field of study, comparable to the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at UTSA

Incoming students are required to have taken and received at least a "B" in upper-division undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in cell biology and biochemistry, and to have an undergraduate course in genetics. In addition, an undergraduate course in immunology, preferably with a laboratory component is recommended

Graduate School application

Official transcripts from all institutions attended. All international transcripts must be recorded in English or officially translated to English along with an evaluation of the transcripts from Foreign Credentials Service of America
