The George Washington University Paralegal Studies program prepares its graduates to work in demanding legal environments by affording them the cognitive knowledge and practical skills that such employment demands: writing and speaking clearly, concisely, and effectively; conducting research and presenting the results; analyzing legal issues; thinking critically; working individually and in teams; operating professionally and ethically; protecting client confidences; and avoiding conflicts of interest among them.

Courses balance theoretical, philosophical, and historical study of law with practical applications of communication, analysis, ethics, and legal technology. Courses are designed in conjunction with the legal, governmental, business, financial, and international communities to ensure they are relevant and topical.

The credits earned through the graduate certificate may be applied to the on-campus or online MPS in Paralegal Studies. Students may also combine the graduate certificate in Paralegal Studies with a graduate certificate in Healthcare Corporate Compliance for an MPS in Paralegal Studies with a concentration in Healthcare Corporate Compliance.

Applicants to the MPS in Paralegal Studies must have a:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or international equivalent
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
You’ll also have to complete our online application and submit the necessary required materials, including one letter of recommendation (academic or professional)
