Overview
The MS program in Dental Biomaterials at Marquette University is offered to individuals who want to pursue advanced study in dental biomaterials. A major component of the program is conducting a research project culminating in the successful completion of a master’s thesis and defense. Training in methods, techniques and instrumentation used in dental biomaterials research are also extended to students.
Learning outcomes
The dental biomaterials graduate program is an interdisciplinary program covering principles of materials science, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, and dentistry. Satisfactory completion of the didactic and research components of the program results in a master’s degree through the Marquette University Graduate School.
In addition to the courses offered by the School of Dentistry, master’s candidates may be required by their program adviser to select courses offered through the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science or other departments. Elective courses in appropriate areas such as the dental graduate core curriculum (from the School of Dentistry) or materials science (from the College of Engineering) may also be selected according to the backgrounds and interests of the individual students.
