Overview

A student of the Health and Kinesiology program at the University of Utah, interested in a MS degree, can either pursue a non-thesis or thesis track. The non-thesis track is very practice/applied focused.

We have two focus areas in our non-thesis degree programs.

First, our Health Education Specialist & Wellness Coaching non-thesis degree track prepares students to be a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) as well as a certified Wellness Coach. Graduates of this program will sit for dual certifications and be prepared to excel in a variety of health and wellness work settings.

Second, students interested in a Master’s degree that will prepare them to practice sport psychology with athletes should apply for the Applied Sport Psychology specialization within the Department of Educational Psychology’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program. Accepted students will enter into a 3-year program leading to a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology, licensure as a clinical mental health counselor (CMHC) in the state of Utah, and certification as a mental performance consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
