Key facts:

The M.Ed. Master's in Educational Research and Evaluation (EDRE) at Ohio University is intended to allow students the flexibility necessary to develop programs that meet their individual needs and interests.

The program of study should be developed in consultation with the student’s advisor and filed with the College before the completion of 20 credit hours. ALL Master’s students are required to take EDRE 5010 Introduction to Research Methods early in the program and a

Culminating Project/Seminar Paper or Thesis for 4 credits. In addition to EDRE 5010 and the Culminating Project, students typically are expected to take qualitative, quantitative, psychometrics, mixed methods, and evaluation courses, but ultimately should develop a program designed to meet their individual goals.

Programme Structure

A minimum of 30 semester credit hours of courses (i.e., not including culminating project credits) beyond the Bachelor’s Degree is expected for the Master’s in Educational Research and Evaluation. At least two scholarly tool courses are required. These courses are usually advanced methodological courses necessary to fulfill the requirements of a seminar paper/thesis.

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent: Admission requires an earned bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association, or an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned.
Official transcripts: Applicants are required to submit one official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended, regardless of whether or not a degree was earned or the credits are reflected on a separate transcript as transfer credit.
Letters of recommendation. Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation.
Statement of Purpose: Applicants must submit a two-page statement of purpose.
Resume or Curriculum Vita: This should also be treated as one of the most important items in your application package.
