Overview

This Animal Science program at University of Idaho will prepare you to develop specialized knowledge in areas such as animal nutrition, reproductive physiology, meat science, animal breeding, muscle biology and growth. You will also gain research experience by designing and completing a thesis project that addresses an important question in animal agriculture.

Much of your learning will take place in our on- and off-campus animal centers and laboratories, where students work directly with livestock and apply classroom knowledge to real-world production and research challenges.

Programme Structure

Curriculum includes:

The M.S. degree requires a minimum of 30 credits, at least 18 of which must be in courses numbered 5000 and above.
No more than 10 of the 5000-level credits may be from research and thesis. Courses at the 3000 level in supporting fields may be used as part of the M.S. degree program.
All graduate students are required to complete the departmental graduate seminar twice during the degree program.
Students are also required to assist with teaching during their graduate training.
