Overview
Graduates of the M.Arch. professional-degree program are prepared to solve the complex problems of the built environment. Preparation is achieved through a curriculum that teaches the specifics of, and the interactions between design processes, design media, history, theory, technical, social and environmental systems. Much of this occurs in the design studio — a unique classroom experience focused on learning-through-making with students and a professor working closely together in the studio nine hours a week.
The M.Arch. Architecture degree from University of Idaho has two durations: two years and 45 credits; and three-and-a-half years and 96 credits. The two-year M.Arch. program is for holders of a B.S. or B.A. degree in Architecture. The three-and-a-half-year program (3+ M.Arch.) is for students with a four-year bachelor’s degree in any discipline other than architecture. The Architecture Bootcamp program is an intensive summer program designed for students with bachelor’s degrees in other disciplines. Bootcamp will prepare you for this Master’s in Architecture program. Both programs are available at the Moscow and Boise campuses.
