Overview
We offer a master degree in Chemistry at the University of New Orleans. An advisor will be assigned to the student based on his or her area of interest. The minimum course work requirement is 33 hours including 3 credit hours of CHEM 6095 Seminar.
Each student is required to prepare and present a literature seminar, the subject matter of which is to be taken from the current chemical/biochemical research literature.
Key Features
- The student's Advisor and Committee must approve the topic. Students must present their seminar the semester they intend to graduate.
- The presentation of the seminar will serve as the comprehensive exam and will be judged by the students' Advisor/Committee as pass or fail.

General requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a 4-year degree equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad.
- Applicants enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's degree or international equivalent will be considered for conditional admission.
- 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all graduate coursework
- A current résumé or C.V.
- At least three letters of recommendation are required for entrance into the Ph.D. program and two for the M.S. program.
- A statement of purpose explaining your interest in graduate school and if you are interested in a specific area of chemistry. Please indicate if you are undecided.
