FHSU history graduates have gone on to teach, write, practice medicine and law, and have entered a variety of for-profit and non-profit positions. General requirements

A bachelor's degree of any concentration with satisfactory performance in a minimum of 18 hours of history courses. A historical/research methods class or equivalent is required.
Two letters of recommendation.
A writing sample demonstrating research, higher level writing, and documentation skills.
A personal statement. If possible, please indicate the course(s) in which you did formal research and writing.
A 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale on last 60 credit hours; or a 2.50-2.99 GPA for last 60 credit hours and applicant must attain a B or better in first 6 hours of graduate coursework at FHSU.
Students who do not meet these basic requirements may be admitted to the graduate program, but they MUST remove any deficiencies in their undergraduate preparation as soon as possible. All work to clear up deficiencies will not count toward the total hours for the M.A. degree.
Any exceptions requires approval of the department Chair.
