Overview
Students and faculty in the Astrophysics program of the University of Minnesota make use of the excellent observational, laboratory, and computational facilities in the department as well as national and international observatories. A wide range of other research institutes on campus, extensive opportunities for professional teaching development, and educational programs in related scientific and technical fields enrich the graduate experience for Minnesota students. The warm cultural and recreational atmosphere of the Twin Cities is an added attraction, making the University of Minnesota a stimulating and enjoyable place to study.
A graduate student in astrophysics leads a busy, stimulating life. He or she may simultaneously be a student taking classes, a teacher of an introductory course, and an apprentice and colleague working on research projects. An individual faculty advisor helps each graduate student juggle these various responsibilities and decide about course work and research.
