About the program:

Nanoscience and nanotechnology have been referred to as the Industrial Revolution of the 21st century. Nanoscience refers to the scientific phenomena that occur at sizes around a nanometer, which is one billionth of a meter.

An example of scale is the walls of cells, which are five nanometers thick. Demand for graduates in Nanoscience and Microsystems at The University of New Mexico has been increasing steadily, but currently, only a few universities offer degree programs.

General requirements

The online application process will guide you through which materials are required by the University to finalize your application.
The department also requires GRE General Test scores, a Letter of Intent, and three letters of recommendation.
The Letter of Intent should briefly describe your experience and objectives in undertaking graduate study in Nanoscience & Microsystems Engineering and be submitted through the online system.
(One) IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge CPE or CAE for International Applications are required and should be submitted to the University directly by ETS (Institution code = 4845; no department code is needed). During the online process, please report your scores unofficially for review. The minimum IELTS admission standard for UNM is 6.5
Recommendation letters should be submitted directly by your recommenders through the online system. Specific directions are included within the application system.
