A notable feature of the Professional Studies degree program from Fort Hays State University is the flexibility to combine a major subject area with one or more cognate areas. Concentrations
- Chemistry - minimum 2.75 GPA on last 60 undergraduate credit hours. Deadlines are June 15 (Fall), October 15 (Spring), and March 15 (Summer). - Dr. Arvin Cruz

- Gerontology - A minimum grade point average of 3.0 for last 60 credit hours on the bachelor's degree; or a 2.50-2.99 grade point average for last 60 credit hours on the bachelor's degree and an acceptable score of 148 on both the Verbal and Quantitative components of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or a minimum score of 40 on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). - Glen McNeil

- Medical Imaging (Administration or Education) - A minimum 3.0 GPA for the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate credit. Applicants must submit a copy of their Medical Imaging Certification in one of the following: ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB. – Christa Beiker
- Music Composition - minimum 2.75 GPA on last 60 undergraduate credit hours, electronic portfolio with three original scores with recordings for different media (live recordings preferred, but high-quality MIDI versions are acceptable). - Dr. Tim Rolls

Programme Structure
The MPS curriculum contains five components:
- 9-hour core curriculum which includes a research methods course, a statistics course, and a concentration-specific
- 9 to 12-hour major concentration area
- 6 to 9-hour cognate field or free electives area
- 3-hour projects or internship course. The total number of credits required for this degree is 30 credit hours.
- Satisfactorily complete the comprehensive exam

- Provide the Graduate School with an official bachelor's degree transcript and master's degree transcript (if applicable) from a regionally accredited institution.
- For institutions outside the United States and Canada, a World Education Service (WES) International Course-by-Course Transcript Evaluation is required for translation.
- Provide letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation must be submitted on letterhead and contain the signature of the author.
- Provide any other documents required by specific departments, such as a personal statement or vita, background check release, writing sample, or digital art slides.
