Engage in this rigorous program that blends science with public health concepts. Environmental Health is the study of how factors in the environment — such as chemical toxicants, infectious disease, food safety, changing climates, and workplace hazards — affect human health.

Environmental health is focused on how the environment — where we live and work, what we eat, the air we breathe — impacts human health. The Division of Environmental Health Sciences improves the health of individuals and communities by conducting rigorous and collaborative research to identify risks, reduce hazards, and inform public health policies. The Environmental Health program at the University of Minnesota prepares future leaders through MPH, MS, and PhD degrees.

There is a greater need than ever for employers to improve environmental health and workplace safety. Graduates are well-prepared to work in universities, private companies and NGOs, national and international organizations, and state and local departments of health on health protection and promotion, applied research, education, and program development.
