Programme Structure

Thesis program

18-30 semester hours in history, including HIST 6301 and HIST 6302 and HIST 6303.

With approval of the department head, the student may elect an additional field of study at least six but not more than 12 semester hours.
At least 15 of the total 30 semester hours must be taken at the 6000 level.
Students may take up to 12 hours of HIST 6096.
Students will be required to pass an oral comprehensive examination over the thesis upon its completion.

Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
Overall undergraduate GPA ≥ 3.00
GRE Scores in the 50th percentile or higher in one or more categories (math, verbal, or analytical)
A writing sample or a two to three page typed essay over a topic selected by the history graduate adviser
One letter of recommendation from an individual who can comment on your academic work and suitability for graduate school
Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 to remain eligible for scholarships and/or graduate assistantship
