Candidacy status is an indication that Old Dominion University has voluntarily committed to participate in the ALA accreditation process and is actively seeking accreditation. Candidacy does not indicate that the program is accredited nor does it guarantee eventual accreditation of the program by ALA.
Nationally recognized by the American Association of School Librarians and CAEP and by the Virginia Department of Education for the preparation of school librarians.

Applicants may hold a bachelor's degree in any field. Applicants to the School Library Concentration must have a teaching license. Students interested in school library licensure who do not have a teaching license may be advised into additional coursework and testing.
A Virginia Collegiate Professional License or an equivalent license from another state.
A 500 word essay addressing how this degree will forward your pursuit of lifelong learning.
