These Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) are prepared to function as Nurse Practitioners providing primary care to families across the lifespan.

The graduates of the Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan program of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte are eligible to take the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) examination for Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan certification. The Family Nurse Practitioner program is a full-time, campus-based program.

Unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina

BSN degree from a college or university accredited by an accepted accrediting body; the RN-to-MSN option is not available to NP applicants

One year of professional nursing practice

Overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the last degree earned

Completion of an undergraduate statistics course with a grade of C or above

Statement of Purpose explaining the applicant’s career goal and preparation in relation to primary care and family practice, and qualities making them a strong applicant

References should be from professional colleagues and should speak to clinical knowledge and expertise and one’s ability to function a member of the healthcare team. At least one reference from a supervisory person is preferred.
