Student Learning Outcomes

Students of the Early Childhood and Family Development program at Missouri State University will describe the process to build effective family and community relationships.
Students will describe effective ways to build program development to include but not limited to effective assessment strategies, goals, observations, partnerships and individual development.
Students will advance cultural competence to enhance interactions with individuals across settings with an ultimate goal of working toward anti-bias practices on a global level. They will view diversity in its broadest context such as family structure, socioeconomic status, individual abilities, gender and sexual orientation.

Students will demonstrate professionalism in their field of study by describing their content knowledge of their academic disciplines and provide ethical leadership to collaborate with colleagues to create, implement and evaluate their effective interactions with the community.

General requirements

To be considered for admission to this program, a student must submit both the Graduate Application and submit the required Early Childhood and Family Development documents.
Students must possess a bachelor’s degree and must meet the requirements for admission to the graduate school as states under the Admission to Graduate Studies section of the Graduate Catalog.
A letter of intent containing professional goals, future plans, background information, and professional experiences.
Submission of two letters of recommendation from professionals familiar with the candidate’s academic abilities and potential.
Completion of any required prerequisite courses or permission from the Director of the Early Childhood and Family Development Program.
Students may transfer in no more than 9 credit hours which must be approved by the advisor.
