Overview

The Digital Media and Culture Graduate Certificate program offered at University of Southern California teaches you leadership and management of social media, digital media, and online communities. You will develop expertise in the practice, theory, and strategies that are essential for success in today’s business and social landscape. Topics include design and management of social media sites and apps, game development and theory, entrepreneurship, innovative uses of emerging technologies, and creation of content and strategy, as well as the science of persuasion and affiliation. As a capstone experience, with three or four classmates, your group will receive a $10,000 budget to conceptualize, develop, and launch a fully functioning, dynamic digital media site or app.

Learning Objectives:

You will gain a broad understanding about the underlying social science theories and the human behaviors that underpin human activity in the digital sector. Overall, you will develop expertise in the leadership and management of digital social media, whether focused on a business, nonprofit, activity, product, service, or opportunity.

An overall “B” average (3.0/4.0 GPA) is the minimum standard for admission consideration. To calculate your academic average, USC may convert an overseas grading scale to the U.S. standard scale.
All transcripts and degree certificates/diplomas must be written in theoriginal language of instruction. All original-language documents must be accompanied by a separate, word-for-word English translation. Dual-language transcripts are acceptable.
