The Curriculum and Instruction - Literacy and Reading program from Ashland University prepares you to have the greatest possible impact on your students’ learning.

You will develop the confidence to make evidence-based instructional decisions in your classrooms and to advocate for appropriate practices with parents, colleagues, administrators and policymakers.

Learning Experiences

Improve your skills to intervene with students who struggle with reading.
Learn the most effective research-based methods for teaching reading.
Get 100 hours of direct practice working with students on the elementary, middle and secondary level under the supervision of trained professionals.
Work on assignments designed to improve instruction in your own classroom.
Attend a combination of online and in-person classes with personal feedback.

A submitted online application, which includes:
A non-refundable application fee of $30.
Essay responses as identified in the online application.
Two letters of recommendation, one pastor / spiritual mentor and one professional.
Official electronic or paper transcripts for all degree issuing, post-secondary institutions attended. If admitted with an unofficial transcript, you may not register for a second term until the final, official transcript has been received.
Personal interview, if requested by the Office of Admissions.
Applicants to the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling will receive instructions for the completion of a personality inventory ($100 fee) and follow-up interview.
