Purdue University’s School of Engineering Education (ENE) is the world's first such academic unit, originally designed for Ph.D. students who wish to pursue rigorous research in how engineering, science, technology, and math, are best taught, learned, and practiced.

The master’s degree has been added for those who want to understand both the underlying theory and the practical applications of engineering education research but are not currently ready to pursue a Ph. D. Purdue University is ranked #2 in best online engineering master's programs by U.S. News & World Report (2023).

In ENE, you'll find an enthusiastic and committed community of scholars who lead in building the discipline's intellectual framework. Faculty and doctoral students work collaboratively across the entire educational continuum (preschool through college, extending into the workplace), and our alumni find employment in academia, industry, and professional organizations.

After you begin your studies at Purdue, an academic advisor will help you create a Plan of Study (POS) to best fit your educational needs and career goals. Every POS varies based on student interest, time, and course load. The flexible nature of our programs makes it possible for you to take time off from your studies if you need to. The majority of students choose to begin their studies by taking one course at a time to ensure they find a successful balance of work, life, and school.
