- A preferred undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required for standard admission.
- Submit three appropriate letters of recommendation.
- Provide official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework.

- Submit a 450–500 word statement of purpose explaining graduate goals and relevant interests and experiences.
- Bridgewater State University undergraduates in Communication Studies may be eligible for early admission into the MA program.
- Early admission applicants must be BSU undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on overall or junior/senior coursework.
- Early admission applicants must submit three letters of recommendation, preferably academic.
