Overview
Advances in science and technology are resulting in globalization or the interconnectedness and interdependence of peoples worldwide. As a result, populations have experienced significant changes in patterns of infectious and chronic disease, as well as an increase in antimicrobial resistance.
The emerging field of global health is dedicated to improving health and achieving equity in health for all people, worldwide, and encompasses an approach and unique toolset to work collaboratively across cultures and disciplines.
Program Outcomes
Students Global Health program from Michigan State University in the will achieve competencies recommended by the Consortium of Universities for Global Health within the following domains: global burden of disease, globalization of health and healthcare, social and environmental determinants of health, capacity strengthening, collaboration, partnering and communication, ethics, professional practice, health equity and social justice, program management, sociocultural and political awareness and strategic analysis. Students will also have the option to participate in a diverse international field experiences in applied global health.
